Dubai Is The Place To Be On April 1
April 2 will be marking the commencement of the Dubai Autism Awareness Month. On April 1, Dubai will be hosting the Autism Rocks Festival, and will feature live performances from Florida and Tyga. The Autism Rocks Festival is a family fun-filled event that raises money that is used in raising awareness about autism as well as for research.
The Autism Rocks Festival was inspired by Usha and Sanjay Shah Denmark, a couple based in Dubai. The whole idea behind the establishment of Autism Rocks was to change the narrative on how people with autism are perceived and dealt with in the society. In an interview with XPRESS, Usha said, “My husband and I have an autistic son, and we wanted to do something for those like him. While there was a lot of support for special needs people, we felt the need to provide greater exposure for such children. We wanted to encourage more research into why people are afflicted with these conditions and what can be done about it. So we came up with the idea of Autism Rocks.”
Since its establishment in 2014, Autism Rocks has raised more than £600,000 by holding concerts. A number of world-renowned musicians including Prince, Michael Bublè, Lenny Kravitz and Drake, among others have contributed towards this noble cause. The official DJs for the Autism Rocks concerts are Fever and BFG.
During this year’s event, the attendees will not only enjoy live music but will also enjoy fun activities like crazy golf, laser tag, bouncy castles, zip line, rodeo bull, horse rides, inflatable rides, face painting, a petting zoo and barbecue. 117 Live, a subsidiary of Al Ahli Holding will be partnering with Autism Rocks to ensure that this year’s concert is not just a success but an event worth remembering.
